Daily Dose
All of the custom orders for the Daily Dose are filled, and we are starting to have stock on the floor. It has been a crazy 3 month's with so many custom order's. When we did get a stock board in, it did not last on the rack for more than a few day's. This is a 6'1" and will most likely be gone quick. In my 9 years of owning WaveFront, I have not had a board that has got so much positive attention. Come in and take a look at Russell Hoyte's new board.

Craig Angell Surfboards
We are very happy to now offer Craig Angell Surfboards at Wavefront Surf Shop. Craig has been a top surfer and sought after shaper in our area for many years. His rich knowledge of surfboard design and impressive shaping skills combine to produce beautiful, high performing surfboards. Craigs models range from shortboards to his fine classic noseriders.
This noserider is a board Craig has shaped for years, and is the same model he rides. The "Trim Edition" model turns great, noserides and trims with speed.

Deep magazine Surf n Suds Beer Festival
Wavefront Surf Shop and Russell Hoyte Surfboards attended the Surf n Suds beer festival in Carpinteria this weekend. Not much surf going on, but the 50 brewers attending brought some killer beer. We had 3 booths and showed a good selection of our boards.
The boys hanging out at the booth after a few beers.
Friends are so cool. Didn't get his name, but the guy seated on the left, it was his birthday and all of his friends chipped in and bought him this new Orbicular Surfboards RP quad

Ventura County Fair 2013
Well it is that time again, crazy crowds, traffic everywhere. The worst part of Fair is it is really hard to get to Point because they block off all the roads, traffic is crazy, and no parking anywhere for under $10.00. If you are one of the smart ones, you walk or bike it in, and score uncrowded waves for 12 days.
Check out the surf, uncrowded is not the norm here.

Orbicular (Schaefer) Mini-D
Comments from a customer
Orbicular Surfboards (Schaefer) "Mini-D" twin fin model
Message: Big Randy, picked up my custom 5' 8" Mini D two to three weeks ago. Here is my review after having surfed it at Rincon River-mouth and the beach break above the Indicator, Ventura Point, "Tanks" and Malibu. The simplest way to put it is stoked, stoked, stoked! This is my new favorite board for surfing typical knee high to chest high Cali surf and I have a quiver of 25 boards to choose from.
This board surfs so much better than you think it would if you are just looking at it without actually experiencing it in the water. Surfed it in full low tide zippers at Malibu and high tide windswell at Rincon River-mouth and it worked equally well, fast down the line, and really fun into turns, on a dime or you can slide the tail out and re-engage in front of the lip. Also this thing trims like a long board in the mushier stuff. I have not had a bad go out to date on this baby and can't think of a better board to get me through the summer and well into next winter between some real swells. My new go to board! Thanks to you and the man Clyde Beatty.
Marty M.
Many thanks to Clyde who talked me into the fin placement on this board. With eveyone using the close together rear placement approach on this style board, Clyde's knowledge in fin placement made this board do what it does. FLY

Clyde Beatty Jr. custom stinger surfboard
Clyde Beatty hand shaped this 6'8" custom stinger for team rider Andy Hur. Blends of the "70's" and what we have learned since then made this board bitchen. Andy is planning on hitting Sunset Beach this winter on the stinger. Clyde is still hand shaping custom boards, just give us a call or stop by the shop, we can make it happen........... You won't believe the great pricing for all the boards.

Kreiger/Medlock
Robby Kreiger of the Doors and Scott Medlock stopped by the shop today to pick up custom boards I had made for them. Each year they do a fund raiser for St. Judes Children's hospital, and put a lot of time into it. They liked the boards we auction off so much, I made them each one in appreciation of the hard work they do for such a good cause. Make sure to contact me if you would like to go to the fund raiser this year.

New PSQ in the shop
9'1" PSQ |
A few words from Dennis on this board.
There are some surfboards with square noses and of course there is the square tail… a short straight area, but really the only straight thing in a surfboard is the stringer.
Did you ever wonder about that? The only straight line in a surfboard is the stringer… not counting the odd diamond shaped rails seen on a few boards out there. Rockers are curves, outlines are curves, and decks are curves. Now bottoms can be flat from rail to rail but usually this is only a small area, because the bottom will also incorporate Vees, roll or concaves.
The stringer in foam boards help the board from flexing past its breaking point. We want the board to flex but without a stringer they will break too easily. As well, the stringer will give the board a stiffer feel or flex which can be a good thing for overall performance. I make boards with specific stringer sizes and or placement for specific performance characteristics.
I’ve been making and riding boards with perimeter stringers now for 3 or 4 years. They ride really well. A soft flex, not as stiff, more lively. So how about a board with a lighter or narrow center, straight stringer and perimeter stringers too. On a long board it would be the contemporary equivalent of the traditional 3 stringer board.
D.R.
Be sure to check out Dennis Ryders blog, it is so insitefull and full of history.

Jack McCoy stops by
Film maker Jack McCoy stopped by the Shop today promoting his new movie. A Deeper Shade of Blue was made to show in movie theaters instead of just DVD's. Old school is the way to go. I remember going to the Isla Vista theater to see all of the new surf flicks. Nothing like seeing them on a big screen. The movie will show one night only. http://adeepershadeofblue.com/
Seems Buzzy Kerbox was tired from the previous nights opening show.
